Last night a group of us here got together for really what was our rendition of carving pumpkins for Halloween. Yes, it was a little late and no, there weren’t any trick-or-treaters, nor were there any costumes (except Whit taking the kanga that she wore to the house and making it a cape), and actually there weren’t any pumpkins either. We instead carved watermelons because here they are round and a bit easier to carve than the pumpkins. Whit and I were very reluctant about this night of carving watermelons and honestly didn’t really want to do it, but since we were there and there were 4 watermelons, we decided to get into it a bit and came up with a plan. We worked together but took 2 of the watermelons because the 4th was an extra and made our rendition of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, of course this Texan is not so proud of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as I would assume all aren’t, but it was fitting for the night. We called it the Tanzania Chainsaw Massacre. I would sit here and describe what we did but the pictures speak for themselves. We just tried to have a lot of fun with it. Then we all judged the three creations and well they all were given a category, most thematic (ours of course), most geometric, and cutest. But you know overall Whit and I won. We probably had the most fun doing it and that’s what mattered to us.

Whit being a superhero in her kanga cape, she was Swahili girl with the amazing power of speaking fluent Kiswahili...HA
I was concentrating on my creative superpowers, don't need a cape for this :^)
If you look really closely you can see a tear rolling down this guy's cheek (left side of picture)...poor guy already seems to know what is coming.

The scene of the crime, still fresh from occurrence.
The competition...the one on the left was the cutest and the one on the right was most geometric.

So after the results came in, our creations ended up outside and there really was a massacre. The culprits were able to escape from authorities, but the evidence was there. Looks like Whit did it to me, she seems too happy at the site of watermelon guts. We were not able to find a survivor in all the carnage, but each lived a good life with the exception of one.

you waited until we left to do that! man, looks like you guys had a blast (no pun intended) - funny looking watermelons, indeed.
That last picture reminds me of somebody's mom! ;-)
