The First American Holiday Outside...

So the 4th of July was the first holiday I experienced in Dar. And oddly, none of the natives celebrate it (haha). But thankfully I was able to get out of school early and go to the beach with my friends here. It was great! When we arrived we noticed that there were some other Americans there as well. But I first ate a hot dog before going to chat with them, I actually had two different ones. First I had a hot dog that Alison had cooked before heading to the beach. But then, Travis had gone over to the other Americans and came back with some real hot dogs, Nathan's hot dogs, real beef! They had fired up a pit grill and so we went over there and cooked some doggies and chatted a bit. It was awesome! I then went swimming IN THE INDIAN OCEAN. It was incredible, very blue and clear and a little cold but not bad. We headed back home, hopped in a shower and then went over to Travis and Charity's for some Chicken Foot. I believe we are all now hooked on the game we've played it so much in the past two weeks. And yet again, I lost horribly. But I redeemed myself in the next game and won it all. It made me feel good about myself...I didn't feel like too much of a loser. So that was my Fourth.
Oh but wait the celebration continues. There's a party tonight that we will be going to...with hamburgers and hot dogs and some fireworks...WOOHOO! I'll let you know how that goes.
